Een gestructureerd product is een beleggingsinstrument waarmee u enerzijds een zo optimaal mogelijk rendement kunt behalen, maar dat wel doet binnen een door uzelf gekozen risicoprofiel. Deze instrumenten worden meestal ingezet als men het neerwaarts risico van een rechtstreekse belegging wil verlagen, zoals bij een garantieproduct, waarbij de hoofdsom (uw inleg) beschermd is. Daarnaast zijn er vele typen gestructureerde producten, die grofweg in 4 categorieën zijn in te delen:

  • bescherming: u geniet gehele, gedeeltelijke of voorwaardelijke bescherming van uw kapitaal op de einddatum.
  • kasstroom: u ontvangt een jaarlijkse kasstroom, ook wel een jaarlijkse coupon genoemd.
  • groei: u ontvangt geen tussentijdse kasstroom maar een uitkering op de einddatum.
  • hefboom: u ontvangt een hogere uitkering op de einddatum dan een rechtstreekse belegging in de onderliggende waarde, waarbij uw kapitaal slechts gedeeltelijk is beschermd.

Gestructureerde producten worden ook gebruikt om toegang te verschaffen tot beleggingscategorieën die wellicht niet in uw risicoprofiel passen. Zo zou een rechtstreekse investering in aandelen te risicovol kunnen zijn voor uw profiel, terwijl een bescherming van uw kapitaal op einddatum dit risico aanzienlijk verlaagt.
